My Journey to the Netherlands as a Kitchen Helper

From Uganda to the Netherlands, Patrick Okello shares his inspiring journey of becoming a Kitchen Helper in Europe with the support of Global Talent Bridge. A story of perseverance, opportunity, and success.

My name is Patrick Okello, and I am from Uganda. In 2024, I was looking for a better future and more stable employment opportunities. Like many young people, I wanted to work abroad, but I knew that finding a legitimate opportunity was not easy.

While searching online, I came across Global Talent Bridge. At first, I was very cautious because I had heard many stories about fake agents and recruitment scams. Instead of rushing into the process, I spent time researching and communicating with their team to understand how everything worked.

The team was professional and transparent from the beginning. They explained every step of the recruitment process and answered all my questions. This gave me confidence to continue with my application.

Several months later, I was offered an opportunity to work as a Kitchen Helper in the Netherlands. I was excited because it was my first chance to work in Europe and build an international career.

Preparing for the move was both exciting and challenging. There were documents to organize, procedures to complete, and many things to learn before traveling. However, I remained focused on my goal and trusted the process.

When I arrived in the Netherlands, I was impressed by the organization and professionalism of the hospitality industry. My employer welcomed me and helped me adapt to my new work environment. During the first weeks, I learned new kitchen procedures, food safety standards, and how to work efficiently as part of a team.

Today, I work as a Kitchen Helper in a busy restaurant. My responsibilities include preparing ingredients, washing and cutting vegetables, cleaning kitchen equipment, organizing supplies, assisting chefs during meal preparation, and ensuring that hygiene standards are maintained at all times.

Working in the Netherlands has given me valuable experience and the opportunity to meet people from different cultures. It has also helped me develop new professional skills and gain confidence in my abilities.

The most rewarding part of this journey is knowing that I can support my family while building a better future for myself. Looking back, I am proud of the decision I made and grateful for the opportunity that changed my life.

For anyone considering working abroad, I encourage you to stay patient, work hard, and never stop believing in your goals. Opportunities can come when you least expect them.
